Heroes - Gary Vaynerchuk

How amazing is this guy. If you’ve never seen his video show, go check him out at Wine Library. With video on the web still in its early stages, I think Gary is showing us how to get it right. Here’s what he’s doing:
- He’s passionate about the product. He loves wine and is on a mission to share that passion and get more people interested in wine.
- He’s teaching us that wine can be a very rewarding hobby, but can be complex. So he’s making it easy for us to understand it.
- He’s approaching wine differently than we’d expect. Wine is serious business, no? Gary looks like he’s getting ready for a tailgate party at a Jets game. And I’m sure he’d bring a few bottles of wine with him if he was going to the Meadowlands (that’s where the Jets play).
- He’s friendly and looks like the life of the party. I’d love to hang out with Gary and talk wine, and I don’t drink.
- After making us feel welcomed and entertained, he actually teaches us to appreciate the complexity of the wine, from the bouquet (the sniffy-sniff as Gary says), the color as compared to other wines in the category, and the palette experience.
- Then he gives us his opinion about the wine. I think he’s honest about it since I’ve seen him give bad reviews.
So how’s that for a video marketing lesson? Be passionate about what you do, be entertaining, informative, approach from a unique perspective, and be honest.
Is this difficult or something? Where’s the Gary V of coffee? Where’s the Gary V of model cars?
Is it you?

Yeah, Gary is the man. He’s also taking us all to school on social media too. Not just talking about it… doing it.
Good point Jim. I didn’t even get into what he’s doing with twitter and Facebook. I’ve read so many posts about how to “game” social media, and then you look at how Gary went about it honestly and diligently. Makes you wonder how much great content and video would be out there if everyone used Gary as a model.
