Don’t Spam Your Facebook Friends

Mike Buechele of 1115MEDIA.COM, talks about a spammer, and how you can use social media for your newsletters without spamming. Friending people on Facebook, or any social media network, does not give you permission to send spam to their email account. If you want to use your network like a distribution list, create a Facebook group where people can sign up and opt in to receive your newsletters through Facebook.

Define spam? Sharing an event you have setup in Facebook? Is that spam? How do you spam someone inside facebook? I'm really asking.

No that's not spam. Spam is unsolicited email advertisements to your email address. Which is what this person is still doing, so I just reported it to the FTC.

You don't spam someone inside Facebook. what you described, and what makes me think I didn't describe very well, is perfectly legit. This person is going outside of Facebook.
